Harriett welcomes schools at premier agricultural show

19th June 2017

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin welcomed an initiative which saw thousands of local schoolchildren visit the ever-popular Royal Three Counties Show for free.

Schools brought children from all over the region on Friday (June 16) to visit the show to learn about the countryside. The show organisers even tied up with the Guides to unveil a special badge for Rainbows, Brownies and Guides who attended the three-day event.

More than 90,000 people visited the venue during the weekend to see livestock, farming displays, food and drink retailers and other artisan produce as well as a range of displays including the world-famous Red Devils parachute team.

Harriett commented: "The Royal Three Counties Show is a major visitor attraction bringing ever-increasing numbers of visitors to Malvern.

“The show used to have a reputation as being a trade fair for farmers but now it brings millions of pounds into the local economy.

“It was particularly heartening to see classes of young pupils wandering around the show and learning about countryside ways and where their food comes from.

“I do hope that the young people who visited the show over the last few days will have learned a little more about agriculture and how important our food producers are to us all.”
