MP marks dazzling diamond celebration at Malvern Show

18th June 2018

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin today joined VIPs from showbiz and politics marking 60 dazzling years of agricultural shows at Malvern’s world-famous showground.

The show, which was awarded ‘royal’ status in 2014, will welcome more than 100,000 visitors over three days at the show ground.

The cast from the BBC radio show The Archers, celebrity auctioneer Phillip Serrel and Countryfile presenter Adam Henson were all onsite during the three day event.

And Harriett was joined by Environment Secretary Michael Gove on Friday (June 15) for a tour of the site as well meeting with representatives from the National Farmers’ Union.

Harriett welcomed the diamond anniversary of the show which has this year seen visitors from all over the country enjoying livestock demonstrations, entertainment and the very best of local produce.

The society is a charity that aims to educate young people about farming and latest figures show that the site – which hosts a variety of major events throughout the year – is estimated to bring £34 million into the local economy.

She said: “The Royal Three Counties Show keeps going from strength to strength with hundreds of thousands of people travelling to Malvern to see the premier collection of livestock and local produce.

“It is amazing to think that 60 years ago, the Queen and the Queen Mother travelled to Worcestershire to visit the very first show and we have been celebrating the work of farmers ever since.

“I am tremendously proud that the show is growing into a world-famous event and I hope that our visitors get a world class Worcestershire welcome as they tour this amazing attraction.”
