MP thanks Tenbury hospital staff

12th January 2018

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has praised the work of staff and volunteers during a visit to Tenbury’s community hospital, last week.

The MP discussed the operation of the successful minor injuries unit which is open every day seeing local people and helping to take the pressure of Worcester’s main accident and emergency unit.

Minor Injury Units can treat things like sprains, strains, fractures, cuts, wounds and wound infections while A&E should only be for emergency or life threatening conditions.

Harriett took time to thank both the staff and also the legion of volunteers who support the popular local hospital.

Harriett commented: “Tenbury Hospital is highly valued by local people and over the years I have spoken up strongly to make the best possible use of this important community resource.

“I was given a useful update on how the Minor Injuries Unity is working and agreed to help spread the word that it offer a great way for people to avoid major waiting times at Accident and Emergency.

“It is good to hear of the plans to recruit more staff and I look forward to getting more detail on this in due course.

“All of our hospitals are busy at this time of year and I was eager to pop in and say thanks to the staff for their hard work and dedication.

“I also want to pay tribute to the continued efforts of the League of Friends who play an invaluable role fund-raising and helping the hospital to thrive.”
