MP urges further improvement at county hospital

20th June 2017

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has offered her support to the new management at Worcestershire’s NHS Acute Trust following a further inspection by health watchdogs.

The Care Quality Commission today confirmed that the Trust will remain in special measures as it attempts to deliver improvements in care across the Trust’s hospitals.

A new chair and chief executive have recently been appointed and the Trust’s management is implementing a major improvement plan.

Harriett commented: “This latest CQC report does not come as a huge surprise and I know that the senior management at the Trust were expecting a further period in special measures.

“However the report does make for disappointing reading and I hope that the new chair and chief executive will be able to make inroads into these issues very soon.

“It is good to see that the care delivered by staff is still rated ‘good’ and the feedback I get from constituents is that most patients value the hard-work and care delivered by our doctors and nurses.

“I have written this week to the Department for Health in support of a £29 million bid for funds to improve capacity at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital and I hope that this successful bid will be a springboard to improved performance across the Trust.”
