MP welcomes £1.6 million county pothole fund

25th April 2018

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has this week welcomed the work carried out by the county council highways team dealing with potholes after the severe winter cold snap.

And the MP welcomed news that Worcestershire County Council has been awarded £1.6 million from a national fund to carry out urgent repairs on the damaged roads.

Harriett also passed on her thanks to the Highways team who kept the local roads are clear as possible during difficult weather conditions. She passed on her thanks to the new county council chief executive Paul Robinson, who she met at county hall last week.

Harriett commented: “Across the county, motorists can see the Highways team currently busy fixing potholes and it is great that there is a national fund helping to keep county roads in good condition.

“From my time driving across the country, I do know that we do much better here dealing with poor road surfaces and when I met up with the new county chief executive, I was happy to pass this message on to him to share with the team.

“The gritter team did an amazing job too and I think it is important to make sure we properly recognise their efforts.

“With major roadworks being carried out across the county it is all too easy to jump to blame the people who work day and night make our roads better, so took the time to chat to Paul Robinson and share my thoughts.

“We do need to keep the pressure on Highways England who seem to be unwilling to listen to constructive feedback about the way their carry out their tasks but at the same time, I want to recognise that we do have good roads in the county and when all this major construction work is done, we will have much better infrastructure.”

Road users can report a pothole themselves by visiting the dedicated web pages at http://www.worcestershire.gov.uk/info/20449/keeping_you_informed_about_h...
