MP welcomes continued school exam improvement

23rd August 2018

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed news that local schools are delivering strong improvement as A level and GCSE exam results are published.

And the improved performance follows a series of reforms delivered by Government to ensure young people have the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their future careers.

A levels have been reformed in collaboration with the UK’s major universities to improve students’ readiness for the demands of higher education and a new grading scale has been introduced to be more rigorous and properly rewards high-performing students.

Harriett commented: “I am delighted to hear of the great results achieved by local pupils at both A level and GCSE and it is testament of their hard work and the efforts of our teachers.

“Nine out of ten of our Worcestershire schools are rated as good or outstanding and it has been great to see improvements at our secondary schools giving local children the best possible start for further education and the world of work.

“These reforms, which have been developed in conjunction with universities and employers, will ensure that young people are ready to take on the challenge of starting a degree or apprenticeship and succeed in the future.”
