MP welcomes county’s Allied Healthcare action plan

26th November 2018

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed urgent local action plans put into place during the collapse of social care provider, Allied Healthcare.

Worcestershire County Council’s Adrian Hardman has briefed the MP on its plans to absorb contracts covered by the provider and has confirmed that every person who was receiving a service is now getting an alternative source of care.

The council has taken part in a national effort to offer alternative plans after the care provider cancelled contracts to look after elderly and vulnerable people.

Allied Healthcare provide a range of services including home care, which can be help with cleaning and shopping, getting showered and dressed, preparing meals, and managing medication for the elderly or disabled.

Harriett commented: “I am grateful for the update from Councillor Adrian Hardman and am relieved that alternative solutions have been found so quickly.

“This news was a worrying development and Worcestershire council is to be congratulated for its swift work. The work being carried out to help our elderly and vulnerable people can be an essential lifeline and I hope that this news is reassuring for local people.”
