Post Office halts Holt changes

25th March 2019

The Post Office has today confirmed that is has halted proposals which would have seen Holt Heath’s service moved away from the village.

The organisation has re-opened discussions with the local shop and current postmaster with the hope that services can be preserved in their current location.

The news comes after West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin wrote to the Post Office’s chief executive, Paula Vennells on behalf of the local parish council and local residents who had expressed concern about the proposals.

Harriett also met with Holt’s District Councillor Pam Cumming to discuss the matter and both of them urged local people to take part in the formal consultation which was conducted as part of the process.

Harriett commented: “It is good news that the Post Office has shelved the plans to move the service out of the village and they clearly listened to the views of local people who preferred to see the service remain where it is.

“In my experience, a local post office service is highly valued by local residents and I am grateful for the Post Office’s careful consideration of this matter.

“It is important that the work to secure a long-term future for Holt Heath’s Post Office continues and I have offered my support to the local community as it develops its plan.”
