Tenbury pupils give MP Harriett Brexit quizzing

5th December 2017

Tenbury High pupils grilled their local MP on issues ranging from Brexit to climate change during a school press conference.

Two budding newshounds – Abi Hall and Oscar T’eo – asked Tenbury MP Harriett Baldwin a range of questions as part of an interview for the school’s paper.

Harriett visited Tenbury High Ormiston Academy and agreed to be quizzed by the year nine pupils on a wide range of subjects. The pair posed questions on the EU Referendum, climate change and local flooding issues and why she became an MP.

Harriett commented: “Abi and Oscar were very good interviewers and posed some really interesting questions. When I remember how I was at their age, I don’t think I would have been that confident and asked such tough questions.

“I do like to chat with local pupils as it gives me a very clear idea of what young people are thinking and what their priorities are.

“I particularly noted their concerns about local flooding and wanted to reassure them that I am working hard to keep up the pressure to develop a long-term solution for this ever-present threat.

“It is also important to remember that the Brexit negotiations will impact many generations to come and it clearly is an issue they care about.

“I was grateful that school principal Adrian Price was able to fix up this session and look forward to returning to take part again soon.”
