    During a debate on the Bill which will cap civil service redundancy pay at one year's salary or 15 months for voluntary redundancies, Harriett Baldwin expresses her preference for a negotiated settlement if possible. However, she supports the view that the current Civil Service Compensation Scheme - where some long serving civil servants are entitled to up to six years salary - is inappropriate when the average private sector redundancy payment is £9,000. read more »
