Barclays offers MP fresh Malvern branch commitment

23rd September 2019

Barclays Bank has offered a fresh long-term commitment to Malvern in a meeting with West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin.

The MP met with local managers at the town’s main branch to discuss challenges facing Barclays’ business and personal banking customers.

During the meeting, the bank briefed Harriett on plans to upgrade technology at the branch on Worcester Road.

The bank will be putting new cash machines into the branch capable of receiving cash payments shortly and the Malvern staff will close the tills early one day a week from next month to offer technology training for customers.

Harriett commented: “Barclays has undergone a recent branch closure programme in West Worcestershire, so it was a relief to hear that the Malvern branch is doing well and the company is investing in it.

“More and more people choose to do their banking online and over the phone, but some customers still rely on the one-to-one service at their local branch.

“The new technology will help people to carry out their banking more quickly and efficiently while keeping staff in place to allow customers to get personal assistance where required.”
