County NHS gets £4 million building boost

11th December 2020

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed news that Worcestershire’s NHS Trusts will receive £4 million extra cash as part of a national investment in the health service.

The two Trusts will get the cash as part of a £1.5 billion capital funding boost announced in the summer to build an NHS fit for the future.

This latest £600 million national programme will help local hospitals to improve their buildings and facilities. One of the local projects will involve building the long-awaited return of a helipad at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Harriett said: “The NHS has done an amazing job this year dealing with the extra pressures of Covid, and as part of last year’s election promises, we committed to continue investing in the health service.

“The Acute Trust will be getting over £3 million to help with the backlog of maintenance projects and this will help to improve capacity and service delivery across the whole county NHS network.

“We have promised to help the country to ‘build back better’ and having have discussions with the local NHS management, this is a welcome extra boost as our hospitals prepare for extra winter pressures and the roll out of vaccines across the county.”
