MP calls for mobile service after Post Office closure

18th December 2019

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has called on the Post Office to add a mobile service to help residents in a county village.

Kemerton’s Post Office has now been closed for a year and no progress has been found finding a new person willing to take on the operation.

Now residents in the village have called on Harriett to intervene to secure a mobile service to allow local people to do their basic banking, buy stamps and post parcels.

Harriett has contacted the Post Office chief executive Rico Back and has agreed to raise the matter with the local management team to see if the village can be added to a local mobile service route.

Harriett commented: “Post Office services are essential for us all and accessing them can be very difficult for people living in the more rural parts of West Worcestershire.

“With the banks withdrawing from the high street, often the Post Office is the only way to carry out some financial tasks and the mobile network is a huge boost to some country dwellers.

“In the past, I have had some success helping communities revive their post office or access services and I will be chasing the local management to look into this enquiry to see if we can find a suitable solution.”
