MP repeats Pershore station improvement pledge

5th June 2019

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has repeated her commitment to secure improved train services and facilities at Pershore’s train station.

The MP was speaking at celebrations to mark the founding of the Cotswold Line Promotion Group and the 40th anniversary of the resumption of services between Pershore and London.

Harriett joined local dignitaries and members of the group to formally mark the departure of the 11.13 train to London Paddington on Saturday (June 1).

The MP has pressed for improved services at the station as well as working with Network Rail, the franchise operator Great Western Railways and Wychavon District Council to increase the number of parking spaces.

She has also offered her support to the North Cotswold Line Taskforce which is identifying a strategy to re-double sections of the track which are currently single-line between Oxford and Worcester.

Harriett commented: ““I want to offer my congratulations to the Cotswold Line Promotion Group for marking this anniversary and continuing their work to speak up for local rail users.

“It was great to see so many people coming to Pershore to celebrate the anniversary of restoring services to the town. I will continue to campaign with them for better, faster, more frequent services and better facilities at Pershore station.”
