MP urges local people to stay at home this Easter

9th April 2020

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has today urged local people to stay at home this weekend to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus and save lives.

The Government instructions to stay at home remain in force and the MP urged people to keep following the rules as the county approaches the predicted peak in cases of Covid-19.

Harriett made the plea before ahead of a long weekend that would traditionally see people out celebrating Easter.

Harriett commented: “The peak of this virus is expected in the next seven to ten days and it could not be more important that people follow the Government instructions to stay at home, help to take the pressure off the NHS and to save lives.

“People should only be outside if they are doing their daily exercise and car journeys should be restricted to urgent grocery shopping, visiting a doctor or pharmacist or if you have to go to work and can’t work from home.

“I’m getting a lot of casework from people who are complaining about not being able to make journeys that are simply not essential and others complaining about how people aren’t taking the law seriously.

“I trust the police to take the appropriate steps to protect public safety but together we must do the best to make sure than all trips are kept to an absolute minimum and help our NHS to deal with this terrible illness.”
