MP welcomes community bus support for Tenbury old folk

28th May 2019

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed the news that a Tenbury daycare centre will be offering a free minibus for people needing to use post office services.

Kyrebrook Daycare Centre supports elderly and vulnerable adults from Tenbury Wells and surrounding communities and the team is providing a shuttle service to Leysters Post Office three days a week while the town’s own post office is temporarily closed.

Harriett welcomed the news, which will be a huge boost to the local people who are concerned about not being able to do urgent banking and postal services during the interim period of closure.

Harriett said: “This is a wonderful gesture and I’m sure local people will be grateful for the efforts of Kyrebrook Daycare Centre.

“I was particularly worried for the elderly and vulnerable residents living in and around Tenbury who rely on the post office and aren’t able to hop in a car to one of the alternative local post offices.

“This is great news for Tenbury but I will still keep the pressure on the Post Office team to expedite the appointment of a new retailer to host the replacement service in the town.”

More details on the service can be found at Smarty Pants at 40, Teme Street.
