Persimmon boss pledges action on MP complaints

6th July 2019

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed a pledge from the new chief executive of Persimmon Homes to personally answer a series a questions regarding the company’s poor reputation across the county.

The MP has written to Persimmon CEO David Jenkinson outlining a series of complaints from constituents surrounding housing developments in Pershore and Malvern.

Issues have included the long-running problems caused by the roadworks at Station Road in Pershore and the problems completing the drains and roads in Malvern Vale.

Harriett welcomed the appointment of a new chief executive at the controversial housebuilder, who has now confirmed he will personally look into the catalogue of issues raised by the MP over the last four years.

Harriett commented: “I’ve had to write to the Persimmon management on a number of occasions regarding local issues in recent years and the company’s response has been historically disappointing.

“When the new chief executive contacted me following his appointment earlier this year, I wrote and highlighted some of the major reputational issues that his company has in my constituency, and I was pleased that he has agreed to personally intervene.

“Of course, deeds are more important than words, and although the Station Road saga nears the end, Malvern Vales drains and roads still have outstanding complaints.

“I welcome David Jenkinson’s personal pledge and hope that he will ensure that the company becomes a more responsible and more responsive housebuilder on present and future large housing developments.”
