Rail operators confirm commuter trains’ return

14th May 2020

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed the return of a reduced commuter train service for Malvern’s two stations.

Both West Midlands Trains and GWR have confirmed a reduced timetable will return to train lines across the county next Monday (May 18) including the return of the currently-closed Hereford to Birmingham connection.

Commuters will need to follow social distancing conventions and public transport users are encouraged to use face masks on their journeys.

Harriett was briefed on the changes by both companies this week, and welcomed the return of trains on the commuter line.

Harriett commented: “The commuter trains linking Malvern to Worcester and onwards to Birmingham are an important service and I am pleased to see them returning to operation.

“The timetables will be significantly reduced, when they come into operation next week, so the advice remains that if you can travel using your own means, you should.

“I know that the train service is an important service for local people and I will be keeping a close eye on the usage figures as we encourage more people to return to work over the coming weeks.”
