Upton Lower High Street Toilets to reopen in time for Jazz Festival

18th June 2007

The Upton Lower High Street Toilets will be reopened this Friday, June 22nd at 10am.

of Malvern Hills District Council Serena Croad and Chairman of the Council Susan Gill will open the toilets in a ceremony to be held just before the Jazz Festival begins. Serena Croad said, "I would like to say thank you to everyone who voted for us on May 3rd. Refurbishing the toilets and reopening them was one of our key election pledges and I would like to thank the team at Malvern Hills District Council who have worked so hard to get the Upton toilets ready for the Jazz Festival in such a short space of time"

Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire Harriett Baldwin who had spearheaded two rallies about the toilets in the town said, "It is great to see local democracy at work. Closing the toilets was unpopular and fortunately local people had the opportunity to vote for change and get them reopened before they were sold off and closed forever."
