MP pops in to St Joseph Primary following test success

7th May 2019

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin popped into a Malvern primary school to congratulate staff and pupils following a huge improvement in test scores.

The MP was invited to St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School to chat to pupils and to tour the school.

Harriett was also able to celebrate the news that the school has won funding to continue to take part in the Connecting Classrooms initiative which helps them build links with a school in Tanzania.

Harriett chatted to headteacher Therese Langford about the school’s recent huge improvements in the annual assessments of reading, writing and mathematics.

Harriett commented: “I wrote to the school earlier in the year to congratulate the staff and pupils on the great progress made in their annual tests.

“I was invited to come and see the school for myself and tell them what a great job everyone is doing.

“Some of our primary schools made great progress in last year’s tests and I have taken the time to say thanks for the great job our teachers do giving local children the best possible start in life.

“It was also great to hear that the school has had its funding confirmed to continue to take part in the Connecting Classrooms initiative. Many Malvern schools take advantage of this opportunity and I know it makes a big difference to help local children gain a global perspective on life.”

Head teacher Therese Langford added: “I am delighted that Harriett has spared the time to thank the staff and pupils for all they have achieved. We are very proud of our school, its grounds and the resources we have to offer. “We have been part of the Tanzanian link for three years now and are thrilled that the funding has been made available which enables us to continue delivering a broad and balanced curriculum.”
