“I encourage as many woman as possible to take part and share their experiences and together we can create a healthcare system that is better, and fairer for us all.”
West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has encouraged local women to have their say as the Government calls for input into future healthcare strategy.
The Women’s Health Strategy will address women’s health in England over the course of their lifetimes from adolescence through to older age. It will focus on health issues specific to women as well as the ways in which women experience health issues.
To enable as many women as possible to have their say and capture a variety of views on access to services, experiences and health outcomes, the call for evidence has been extended by 2 weeks and will close on June 13.
Harriett said: “For generations, women have lived with a health and care system that is mostly designed by men, for men.
“This has meant that not enough is known about conditions that only affect women, or about how conditions that affect both men and women impact women in different ways.
“Pregnant women and women of childbearing age are also under-represented in clinical trials, which can create troubling gaps in data and understanding. This problem affects half of our population. It can lead to poorer advice and diagnosis and, as a result, worse outcomes.
“I encourage as many woman as possible to take part and share their experiences and together we can create a healthcare system that is better, and fairer for us all.”
