MP praises county’s family support hub

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has praised the work of a multi-agency initiative which helps young families at times of crisis.

Worcestershire County Council’s teams work with the NHS, police and other agencies in a central hub based at County Hall.

The collaborative project – called ‘Family Front Door’ – is a one stop shop giving parents access to a wide range of expert support.

Harriett raised the successful Worcestershire initiative with the Children’s Commissioner Anne Longfield at an event in Westminster this week.

The county project in one of a number of similar initiatives running across the country. The Government has committed £165 million of extra money to help the Troubled Families programme with Worcestershire getting around £1 million of funding.

Harriett said: “I’ve visited the county’s Family Front Door team and seen at first hand some of the important work they do helping families.

“The Government has continued to support initiatives like this and I found it very useful to talk to the Children’s Commissioner about how vital this work is.

“I have always felt that early intervention is key to identifying parents and children with problems and I was happy to attend an event aimed at sharing best practice from up and down the country.”
