MP urges: Shop Local, Shop Virtual

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin urged county shoppers to go online to support their local businesses.

Online shopping has become an essential staple of many people’s daily routine with smaller food producers, farm shops, nurseries and garden centres extending their services to incorporate safe deliveries.

And retail businesses which depended on high street sales are now boosting their online presence to make sure their customers can access their goods and services.

Harriett said: “I have had several local businesses reach out to me to help promote their online services and I’ve been particularly keen to share the details of food producers who can do safe deliveries.

“The home delivery network is swiftly becoming part of our critical national infrastructure and I’m keen to encourage people to support our local businesses where they can to take the pressure off the major supermarkets.

“But I am also aware that there are entrepreneurs whose business has slumped in recent weeks and they are dashing online to drum up trade.

“If you are looking to replace your high street shopping trip with a browse online, I’d urge customers to think local and support local small businesses as much as you can.”
