MP thanks ‘heroic’ NHS as county prepares for Covid-19 peak

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has offered her thanks to the NHS heroes who are at the frontline dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Harriett shared her support with NHS managers during a videoconference update with the county MPs briefing them on the current challenges facing doctors, nurses and care workers.

And the MP today joined her colleagues signing a letter to the NHS community thanking them for their efforts during the global crisis.

Health experts are preparing for a continued increase in reported cases and fatalities over the next seven to ten days.

The MPs also discussed measures announced by the Chancellor which will see the Government write off £320 million of debt run up by the Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust.

Harriett commented: “County NHS chiefs gave the MPs a detailed briefing and passed back some important feedback for us to share with the Government as we prepare for increased levels of pressure on local hospitals.

“I was keen to share my own personal thanks and to pass on the gratitude of all of the people of West Worcestershire to the doctors, nurses and everyone who is working in social care at this incredibly difficult time.

“As a Government, we have been able to show our support to the Acute Trust’s senior management by writing off their significant debt. I hope this helps to put them on a level footing as they work through this difficult time.

“The NHS has always been our most highly valued national asset and now, more than ever, we are grateful for these people and the hard work they are putting in each day caring for us and our loved ones.
