MP continues telephone advice surgery service

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin is continuing to offer telephone and e-mail surgery slots while social distancing conventions are in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The MP usually holds face-to-face advice sessions on Fridays but she has been offering a similar service over the telephone and by e-mail, following current Government movement restrictions. Constituents can book a slot by emailing harriett.baldwin.mp@parliament.uk.

Regular updates are being posted on social media and constituents are urged to visit Harriett’s website where a range of ‘frequently asked questions’ are answered.

Harriett commented: “Over recent weeks, I have received a very high volume of email correspondence and I, and my casework team, are trying to respond to questions as quickly as possible.

“I’ve always tried to be as accessible as possible to my constituents, but it is clearly impossible to hold face-to-face advice sessions. Instead I am offering people telephone slots where people need to talk to me about their issues and concerns. I and my casework team are also providing a quick turnaround by e-mail on the very wide range of issues thrown up by this crisis.

“Every day I am speaking to constituents by ‘phone and e-mail and I even joined Upton-upon-Severn Reverend Amy Wearing for a ‘virtual cup of tea and a chat’ and to answer questions from the Upton Church community.”
