A Government testing scheme opened up at Sixways has been extended to allow more people to take part.
West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin is encouraging local people to check on the Government website to see if they are entitled to receive a test.
The Department of Health and Social Care is ramping up the local testing facility which is at the former park and ride station next to Worcester Warriors rugby stadium.
Essential workers with symptoms, like NHS workers and social care staff, have already been using the facility, but the tests have now been expanded to people over 65 and anyone who has to leave their home for work as well as NHS and social care staff who do not have symptoms.
Harriett commented: “The Government is swiftly ramping up the testing capability across the UK and I urge as many people as possible to get tested and join the national effort to beat coronavirus.
“The experts have always said that the key to overcoming the virus is to carry out wide-scale testing and the qualifications have now been widened to allow more people to get themselves tested.
“If you are unclear about whether you are able to take a test, there is plenty of information on the Government website and local people can start the process by filling out the self-referral form here.”
