Harriett backs green industrial revolution

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed a significant step towards delivering on the Government’s net zero carbon emission pledge with a range of measures to boost the green economy.

The £12 billion plan, covering clean energy, transport, nature and innovative technologies, will create 250,000 new jobs and drive a significant rise in private investment in the sector.

The investment will deliver increased renewable energy schemes, restore our natural environment and move towards much greater use of electric and hybrid vehicles.

Harriett said: “Over the last couple of years, we have made huge strides towards delivering on our 2050 net zero carbon emission pledge with a range of local and national initiatives.

“Locally I’ve been championing the plan to make our homes more energy efficient and I have worked with local groups to reduce our reliance on motor transport helping people to get out and about by foot or bike.

“But this also needs a series of important national initiatives and I fully support this blueprint which will help us to be the first generation to leave to leave our natural environment in a better state than we found it.”
