MP: Local businesses can get net zero road map

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has urged local businesses to log on to access the latest thinking on how to adapt to meet the country’s 2050 net zero targets.

The Government is hosting a series of workshops for small and medium sized businesses to help them transition to a low carbon economy.

The online event, led by the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, will feature speeches by Ministers responsible for delivering on the carbon reduction pledge as well presentations on this subject from a local, regional and national perspective.

It will also have a ‘virtual networking’ area allowing companies with relevant products and services to share their expertise.

Harriett said: “The Government has taken great strides towards committing to the net zero carbon emission pledge but it will need the engagement of many companies of all sizes to make this become a reality.

“I’ve met with a range of local interest groups who have their own views on how we can deliver on the net zero commitment and there are already Government schemes in operation – like the Green Homes Grant – which can help local people take their own individual steps.

“I hope that local businesses will already be evolving their own plans and this seems like a really useful starting point for companies that want to be part of the green energy revolution.”
