A mass vaccination centre is set to open in Malvern adding significant extra capacity for the delivery of coronavirus jabs to local people.
The new centre, which will operate at the Three Counties Showground from next week, will mean people living to the west of Worcester will be able to access a major new site to get their first vaccinations.
The announcement follows news that Worcestershire is one of the best regions in the country with almost half of all adults getting their first jab.
Harriett commented: “I want to pay tribute to the team which has planned and delivered this programme and I know that local people will welcome the chance to get a vaccination closer to home.
“Worcestershire has led the way in the national league tables and the only thing holding us up is the supply of vaccines. I’ve had updates from the Government on plans to ramp up supply and I have passed the messages back that we can get through many more people with extra doses.
“The Joint Committee on Vaccinations and Immunisation has a clear plan for the best way to protect our population and GP surgeries have done a brilliant job making sure people are getting jabs as swiftly as possible.
“I’d urge people to make sure they book their jab when they are asked and now many more people will be able to get a jab much closer to home.
“Vaccines are the key to getting people protected and getting our economy open and I really hope that we can take extraordinary steps to get many more people protected and allow our economy re-opening safely.”
