Two MPs pledged to work together to help Tenbury and Burford’s public services to grow as new homes are built on both sides of the river Teme.
Harriett Baldwin, MP for West Worcestershire, and Philip Dunne, MP for Ludlow, met on Teme Bridge, their constituency boundary, with local council representatives to pledge to work together for the benefit of both local communities.
Tenbury’s GP surgery and schools in both communities are already very popular and the Tenbury Community Hospital in Burford serves both Tenbury and Burford.
The MPs pledged to work together to encourage housing developer contributions to support improving public services for the benefit of residents on both sides of the County boundary.
Harriett said:
“Tenbury is a wonderful market town with some very popular public services. With the County boundary running down the middle of the River Teme, it’s important politicians from both areas work together and communicate over shared services.
“The county divide really shouldn’t matter but I feel it is important that we two MPs work together with councils and public services to make sure new housing comes with financial support to expand public services in both communities.”
Philip added:
“There are significant housing developments under way and planned for both Burford and Tenbury in coming years. Both communities share services, so it makes sense to ensure there is capacity within our schools and medical facilities to cope with this growth in demand. MPs can help ensure there is a joined up approach between our respective local authorities.”
