West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed a pledge to monitor speeding as traffic is diverted around a major county road.
Extra traffic is being diverted through villages around Hallow as the main A443 road is closed for roadworks.
The MP has been contacted by villagers living around Wichenford who are concerned about the extra traffic and drivers ignoring speeding limits.
Harriett passed on concerns to the Safer Roads Partnership which has confirmed it will be closely monitoring the issue and carrying out enforcement measures while the road works are being carried out.
Harriett said:
“This major road closure is causing inconvenience for people living to the west of Worcester and there are significant diversions in place.
“This means that there is extra traffic on nearby roads, but also the issue of drivers finding their own diversions along road that are usually much quieter.
“I have shared concerns raised with me with both Worcestershire County Council and the Safer Roads Partnership.
“Speeding continues to be an issue in rural Worcestershire and I welcome all efforts to ensure villages are protected from this blight.”
