I am horrified by the terrorist attacks that have been launched by Hamas against Israel and feel incredibly saddened that so many innocent lives have been lost. I am a keen supporter of humanitarian aid and welcome the announcement that the UK Government will increase aid allocations to Gaza residents. Diplomats are working to find ways to deliver that aid in such a dangerous place.

As Israel takes the action needed to keep its citizens safe, the UK repeatedly calls on Israel to abide by its obligations under international law and has a regular dialogue with Israel on these matters. As you know the Prime Minister has travelled in person to Israel to convey that dialogue.
