Onshore wind is advantageous as it can help us gain energy independence as well as ensuring we meet our net-zero targets. I warmly welcome the growth of renewable energy over the last decade.

I support onshore windfarms but only on the basis that they are deployed in a sensitive way. I appreciate that not everybody finds onshore wind farms aesthetically pleasing and I believe community stakeholders should be consulted before planning applications are granted.

I am pleased that the Government’s Net Zero Strategy highlights the importance of wind technology to a low-cost net zero system and the need to increase locally supported onshore wind as we work towards a greener future. I am proud to be part of a Government that plans to leave the environment in a better state than we inherited it.
