West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has praised the efforts of the local air ambulance charity to raise extra funds to help it to offer improved cover to county people. The MP recently supported the charity’s bid for £1 million of funding from the LIBOR banking fines fund to help it improve its services. It raises £10 million a year to keep the service running. Harriett visited the Air Ambulance HQ in at Strensham service station (Friday April 29) to meet with the charity’s chief executive and to meet with local staff. The Midlands Air Ambulance provides cover from three centres across the Midlands and helps get urgent cases to hospital in a matter of minutes. Harriett said: “The Air Ambulance provides important critical cover for people involved in serious incidents. We are blessed with some beautiful rural countryside but this can be very difficult to navigate in times of emergency. “Some of the most serious incidents are on our road network so it is comforting to know that using the air ambulance can carry patients to hospital in only a handful of minutes. “It was useful to get a briefing from the charity’s chief executive and personally thank the staff responsible for providing this amazing service.” Photo: Harriett Baldwin MP gets a VIP tour of the Strensham HQ with Jeremy Spiers.
