Bredon Hill Academy pupils have beaten schools across the country scooping first prize in a national competition as part of British Science Week. And West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin offered her congratulations to pupils who grabbed the honours at the event held at the Science Museum. The competition was run by BP to encourage students to study science, technology, engineering and maths subjects. Teams took part in an engineering design challenge to devise an energy-efficient transport idea. Harriett praised the achievement of the three pupils, Hattie Stephen, Amelie Sullivan and Cathryn Lewis, as well as teacher Sally Huntly. Harriett commented: “This is an amazing achievement and we are all so proud of this fabulous win. “We must do all we can to encourage more pupils to take up STEM subjects but clearly the stars at Bredon Hill Academy are well ahead of the game. “I have written to the school to congratulate them on this success and look forward to visiting the school again soon to celebrate this success in person.” Photo: (l-r) Hattie Stephen, Amelie Sullivan and Cathryn Lewis.
