Elgar enthusiasts can enjoy his magnificent "Sea Pictures" sung by rising international mezzo-soprano Alexandra Sherman at a recital of English songs to be given at Witley Church on July 21st at 7pm.
The full programme also includes other English songs from composers like Campion, Purcell and Quilter. Christopher Glyn will accompany on the piano.
The magnificent gilded Witley church is a perfect venue for the concert, with acoustics for music considered to be as fine as any building of its size outside London. It is particularly appropriate for this concert as Elgar's father is reputed to have tuned the piano at Witley Court.
Tickets cost £25 for 1 ticket or £40 for two. They are available, along with full details of the performers and the programme from Lisa Ventura at West Worcestershire Conservative Association on 01684 573469. All proceeds will be donated to Witley Church, St. Richard's hospice and WWCA.
