Lloyds Bank representatives have accepted West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin’s invitation to visit Upton-upon-Severn to discuss the proposed closure of the local branch. This follows Harriett’s presentation to the bank’s senior management of a petition of nearly 1000 signatures complaining about the decision to close the branch. The meeting, which is taking place on Friday, will also be attended by local councillors, business leaders and representatives of the Post Office. Any local customers with questions are also welcome to attend. Harriett is also calling for local traders who will be affected by this closure to get in touch with their views, so that she can relay these strongly to the bank. Harriett commented: “There is clearly strong feeling in the town about this decision and I met with Lloyds to talk about the decision and I set out a number of key issues which I asked them to respond to. “It is important that the bank hears how this will affect the town and its economy so I have invited local councillors and business representatives to the meeting and they will have a chance to address these. Ahead of the meeting, I am eager to hear from any local Lloyds customers who have points that they would like me to raise with the bank.” Lloyds business and personal customers who bank at Upton’s branch can get in touch by emailing Harriett.baldwin.MP@parliament.uk or by ringing 01684 585165.
