And Harriett met with National Farmers’ Union President Minette Batters to talk about the challenges faced by Worcestershire growers and food producers.

The NFU has this week launched a report on food security and the importance of being able to grow our own fruit and veg in this country, reducing our reliance on imports and reducing the cost to the environment of shipping produce from all over the world onto our supermarket shelves.

Harriett recently met with a delegation of local farmers at Stocks Farm in Suckley and had briefings on concerns raised by Worcestershire NFU members.

Harriett said: “It was a pleasure to meet with Minette and talk about how important it is that MPs on all sides show support for farmers and growers.

“Farming is a very important sector in West Worcestershire, and I make sure that I meet with local farmers to hear their concerns and make sure they are passed back to Government Ministers.

“I’m pleased to have a strong relationship with the NFU and I am happy to support their efforts to promote UK produce.

“We are blessed in West Worcestershire to have some world-renowned products – ranging from beef to asparagus, apples and hops and I will continue to champion our local farmers and local produce at home and abroad.”
