Harriett Baldwin met with staff and parents at Malvern Hills Primary School on Friday 12th September.

The meeting was arranged by the new head teacher Julia Millwood.

Malvern Hills Primary School in Poolbrook is threatened with closure following a critical OFSTED report last summer. The closure is currently out for consultation.

Harriett Baldwin said, "This is a beautiful school in a quiet residential location. It has extensive playing fields and a Forest School. Julia Millwood has just started this term as head teacher and brings extensive experience to the role. Because of its troubled history, there are now only 29 pupils left in a school that has room for 150. I met with several parents who were able to tell me why they value the school so highly. First of all, the fact that it is a small school, and the pupils enjoy that and are used to it. The idea of a larger school is intimidating. Secondly, for some families the location is very convenient. Thirdly, teaching in mixed ability classes suits some of the children.

I will be passing this information on to the Local Authority in my formal written submission to them."
