Harriett Baldwin this week wrote to the Environment Agency in support of flood defence schemes for Powick, Kempsey and Pershore, Defford Road.

Exhibitions for these three schemes took place during November and December 2008.

In her letter to Mark Sitton-Kent, the Regional Director of the Environment Agency, Harriett Baldwin writes, "All these schemes enjoy my support...Hopes are now high with the residents affected...and of course the Powick scheme also protects the main strategic route from Worcester to Malvern."

Harriett has also requested a meeting with County Councillor John Smith, who sits for Worcestershire on the Regional Flood Committee. The Committee is scheduled to meet to discuss these schemes on January 14th 2009.

In addition, she has written to the Chancellor, Alistair Darling, to request additional funding for these schemes and for a scheme for Tenbury Wells. Funding is available for permanent flood defences for Upton-upon-Severn scheme in 2009. "
