West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has praised local students and teachers as another batch of strong results are reported by county schools. Schools across Worcestershire have been reporting record GCSE results following on from an impressive performance in A Levels last week. Harriett praised the efforts of schools and students to deliver another strong summer of successful grades. And she also praised the improving trends in sciences subjects with more girls excelling in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths subjects. Nationally many more students are studying computing and ICT and the coding was introduced into the curriculum last September. Locally schools and technology companies are working together to support the Code Club initiative which will encourage more children to get a proper understanding of computer code skills. Harriett commented: “I have been getting reports today of some strong results across schools in my constituency and I want to pay tribute to the hard work of pupils and their teachers for this amazing achievement. “It is pleasing to see increased numbers getting good grades in so-called STEM subjects and this is heartening for local employers who want to see young people well prepared for their future careers. “More and more employers need their staff to have a good knowledge of technology so it could not be more important to deliver excellent teaching of these subjects across the county. “It is gratifying to see local schools delivering such great results and I look forward to visiting local high schools to congratulate the staff in person over the coming months.”
