Harriett Baldwin today commented on the decision taken by Malvern Hills Conservators to reject plans for a cable car system in the hills.
Harriett has previously met with Conservators’ director Stephen Bound and been briefed that any development on the hills is not allowed.
The Conservators would need to formally approve any such proposals and this would require new legislation in Parliament. The issue will be debated at a meeting of Malvern Town Council today (April 7).
Harriett, who is Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire, commented: “I fully support the excellent work carried out by the locally elected Malvern Hills Conservators in their compliance with the five Acts of Parliament through which they are required to preserve the Malvern Hills in their undeveloped state.
“If re-elected, I have no plans to sponsor any changes to the Acts unless I am asked to by the Malvern Hills Conservators, after a democratic vote.”
