New Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has today written to the new Minister for Education, Michael Gove to appeal for a better deal for the county’s schools. Harriett has been a regular campaigner for fairer funding for Worcestershire schools and the issue was debated in a meeting with Worcestershire County Councillors last week. Worcestershire is the 140th of 154 local authorities in terms of funding per pupil. She commented: ”I have been involved with the F40 Campaign group of local authorities which campaigns to change the school funding formula. “Today I wrote to Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove, to reflect my views and those of our teachers and parents. I look forward to a positive response.” Harriett has been an active campaigner for school funding having been a participant of the f40 group of underfunded local authorities. She is also an active school governor at a local primary school in the county. She added: “One of my main aims for this year is to make sure that our schools in Worcestershire get the funding they need to develop our young talent of the future.”
