West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has joined neighbouring MPs to share local priorities with the Chancellor of the Exchequer ahead of his spending statement which will be made next week.
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt is due to make his Autumn Statement to the House of Commons next Wednesday and Harriett joined a group of MPs from Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire to share their requests.
The MPs covered a range of local priorities including new home building, support for pubs, support for farmers and flood defences.
Harriett said:
“At this time of year, the Chancellor takes time to meet with MPs to hear what issues are in our postbag and what he should consider as he develops his Autumn Statement.
“It was a wide-ranging conversation with many of my colleagues sharing the concerns of constituents and it was useful to hear the Chancellor’s initial thoughts on what may be in the up-coming statement.
“We will all be watching the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement closely to see what measures he can bring forward to boost out local economy and recover from the inflationary pressures we have all felt over the last year.”
