Harriett Baldwin MP this week fulfilled an annual commitment to plant trees to offset her carbon emissions whilst working for the people of West Worcestershire.
The MP has planted 16 broad leaf trees to offset the emissions accumulated over her year campaigning and working in Parliament.
This is the fourth year that Harriett has participated in the national campaign to plant trees to reduce the impact of carbon dioxide emissions.
Harriett commented: “The nature of my work for a large rural area and in Westminster means that I travel a lot by car. Although my car has the lowest emissions for its type, it still emits quite a bit of carbon. We also had a family holiday in the US, and of course we use gas and electricity at home.
“Each January for the last four years I arrange for broad-leaf trees to be planted on my behalf in the local area to offset any carbon emissions I have been responsible for in the previous year.
“I am pleased to say that over the four years I have been doing this my annual impact is reducing although the rate of reduction is slowing.”
