West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has been promoted to the role of City Minister in the Treasury as part of the new Conservative Government.
Harriett becomes Economic Secretary to the Treasury and will work closely with Chancellor George Osborne and his team overseeing issues including financial services regulation, foreign exchange reserves and City affairs.
Before becoming an MP, Harriett worked in the financial services industry as a pension fund manager, and has two decades of experience working in the City of London.
Harriett said: “I was delighted to be asked to take on this role and be part of the Government as we continue to deliver on our long-term economic plan.
“I am grateful to all the people of West Worcestershire who voted to return me to Parliament and want to reassure them that I will remain as accessible as before, and will continue to raise issues with Ministers, handle casework and run my regular surgery sessions.
“I look forward to getting to grips with this new role and helping to playing a part in securing the country’s economic future.”
