West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has been promoted to a more senior role in the Whips office as part of the re-shuffle carried out by Prime Minister David Cameron. Harriett is now Lord Commissioner of HM Treasury and has been given additional responsibility for running Private Members’ Bills in the House of Commons as well as managing Education Department questions and Equalities’ questions. Harriett commented: “This reshuffle is about putting in place a strong team to deliver a long term plan that ensures a brighter future for our country, and win us a majority at the next election. “I have been offered a more senior role in the Whips Office working closely with the new Chief Whip, Michael Gove. “I have had the pleasure of working for a true gentleman, Sir George Young, and he and many other fine Ministers are stepping down - some from Parliament too. “I wish them well and welcome some fantastic appointments to Cabinet and other Ministerial roles. “There is real strength and depth of men and women on the Conservative front and back benches as we continue the important work of clearing up the mess left behind by Labour.”
