Harriett Urges Local People to Speak Up on Planning Blueprint

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has urged local people to have their say on the final version of the local planning blueprint as the consultation deadline is extended to allow more feedback.

The South Worcestershire Development Plan process has opened for public views ahead of it being submitted to the Planning Inspectors for final approval.

Harriett has shared her own feedback on the plan and is urging local people to have their say as housing and growth plans are agreed for the next two decades.

The consultation deadline has been extended to December 23 to allow more people to have their say.

Harriett commented:

“This latest version of the South Worcestershire Development Plan has been democratically approved by Worcester City, Wychavon and Malvern Hills District Councillors and now it is open for local people to have their say.

“This plan will set the growth blueprint up until 2041 and it will outline the areas to build new housing including new villages at Throckmorton and around Worcestershire Parkway station.

“Although it is the job of local district councillors to rule on individual planning applications, I do have a view on the wider strategic plan and have shared my views in this consultation.

“In Westminster, I have spoken out against the top-down imposition of housing targets. I feel development should only take place where it is approved and welcomed by local people.

“This is the final chance for local people to have their say before it is considered by the Planning Inspectorate, and I encourage anyone who has a specific view on a site earmarked for development to share their views in this consultation.”
