West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin this week welcomed news that 60 new jobs are to be created in Malvern.
The announcement came as Harriett met with Jeremy Ward and Chris Johnson who have been promoted to the QinetiQ board to lead the company’s Malvern businesses.
The pair gave Harriett an update on the company’s progress and briefed her on the management restructuring as well as the new jobs plan.
The meeting followed QinetiQ’s annual results announcement and the news of a five year £1 billion deal with the Ministry of Defence.
The company has pledged to quadruple its apprentices and is investing in a recruitment programme to attract more people to work in Malvern.
Harriett commented: “This jobs announcement is fabulous news for Malvern and a great sign that the recovery is alive and well at QinetiQ.
“The private sector has created 1.3 million new jobs in the UK in the last three years and I am pleased to see Malvern’s biggest employer is expanding again.
“QinetiQ plays an important role in the defence of our troops and our country, including in the cutting edge of cyber security. They serve many other clients around the world as well.
“I was also pleased to be able to congratulate Jeremy and Chris on their new roles and I hope that we will all be able to work together to promote the brilliant brains of Malvern in the heart of the cyber valley along the M5 corridor from Bristol to GCHQ and on up to Birmingham and Warwick.”
