West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed council planning approval which will see a new roundabout constructed to ease traffic flow at a busy road junction on the edge of Upton-upon-Severn.
The junction at the A38 near to Bluebell Farm, is a notorious traffic pinchpoint and motorists can face long delays when attending events at the Three Counties Showground or one of the popular music festivals in the town during each summer.
Harriett has championed the scheme and has lobbied Worcestershire County Council to fund the road improvement scheme to help traffic flows between Upton and Pershore as well as the busy A38 link towards the M5.
Harriett said: “During summer months, this road can be a serious pinchpoint and the improved roundabout will make car journeys easier for local people as well as visitors travelling into the area to attend local events and shows.
“I want to thank Councillor Paul Middlebrough for his support getting this project over this latest hurdle, and I look forward to working with Paul to progress the raising of the Hanley Road as the next key Upton project.”
“The improved A38 road will make a huge difference to our local economy and ensure Upton-upon-Severn is able to thrive as we welcome back visitors to the town this summer.”
